🏆 Genesis Scottish Open Field
This week's field features 68 of the top 100 in the Official World Golf Ranking, with 32 in the top 50, including six of the top ten. Missing from the field are Cameron Young (#3), Russell Henley (#5), Collin Morikawa (#6), and Justin Rose (#10), all likely resting up before next week's Open Championship. Leading the players who are here are Scottie Scheffler (#1), Rory McIlroy (#2), Matt Fitzpatrick (#4), and Xander Schauffele (#14). Last year's field also had 68 top-100 and 32 top-50 players, so the strength has held steady since the event moved to co-sanctioned status.
The field also includes 22 of the top 25 on this year's Race to Dubai money list, and 16 of the top 25 on the FedExCup points list. There are 8 Past champions in the field, including defending champion Chris Gotterup, who beat Rory McIlroy in a playoff a year ago for his first title on European soil.

⛳ The Buzz
For the fifth time, this event and the ISCO Championship are co-sanctioned, meaning 75 players from the PGA Tour can play this week. The field strength is high, but some marquee names are sitting it out, including Cameron Young, Russell Henley, Collin Morikawa, and Justin Rose. That makes sense given the long season ahead, with three playoff-style events on the horizon after the Open Championship. Playing this week is a great way to prep for Royal Birkdale, but plenty of players are taking the week off instead.
One player everyone will be watching is Rory McIlroy, who hasn't played since the U.S. Open. He's been spending time in England and Ireland since then, even spotted at Wimbledon. He'll fall short of his 15 required PGA Tour events this year, but don't expect any consequences from the Tour. We're also watching Chris Gotterup, who has won four times since his last trip to Scotland and is a top contender as he defends his title.
🏌️♂️ Tournament Information
The tournament is being held at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland, a par-71 course playing 7,282 yards. The club sits on a bluff overlooking Blackness Bay and the North Sea, next to Muirfield, which has hosted 16 Open Championships. The Renaissance Club was once part of the 1,000-acre Archerfield Estate. Architect Tom Doak was brought in to design the course with minimal earth-moving, clearing some of the site's pine and sycamore trees while incorporating others into the layout. In the early design stages, Muirfield traded a boundary of tree-lined land for the dunes that now make up holes 9 through 13, a swap that let Doak route some of the course's best holes along the sea. The course opened in 2008 and was revised in 2014, with two-time Open champion Padraig Harrington serving as a player consultant to help shape it for tournament play.

Strokes Gained Tee-to-Green: A strong barometer of overall ball-striking, combining driving distance, driving accuracy, greens hit, and proximity to the hole.
